The discovery of a new secret passage inside the Great Pyramid of Giza
On Thursday 02/02/2023, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities announced the discovery of a corridor in the pyramid of Khufu, with a height of 9 meters and a width of 2 meters.
Archaeologists considered it the most important scientific discovery of the modern era
Zahi Hawass explained that "the corridors were made to hide something that may be the actual burial chamber of King Khufu." It is worth noting that no traces of King Khufu were discovered except for a small statue in the Egyptian Museum now.
The importance of the discovery is that it is the beginning of revealing the secrets of the Great Pyramid.
The discovery was part of a survey of the pyramids project that began in 2015 and was headed by Zahi Hawass, in which they used modern technological techniques to visualize the hidden parts without the need for excavation or damage.
